Emergent Dialogue Essentials
Develop your capacity to support emergence
Starting: October 15, 2017
Real dialogue provides fertile ground for emergence. What is emergence? Some define it simply as order arising from chaos. It’s the arising of the new: A new quality of being together, more complex perspectives on issues, creative solutions to problems. In our chaotic times, human beings need to be able to come together and co-create as we never have before. This three-month virtual course, held over Zoom video-/teleconferencing, is designed to give you the opportunity to learn how to develop your capacity to support collective emergence.
This three-month course will introduce you to the basics of what we call the emerge dialogue process. This dialogue practice is practical and profound. Not only does it enable you to engage pragmatically with complexity and conflict, it also enables groups to discover a new and deeper source of collective creativity. The six Essentials in the course cover the different capacities of awareness and the approach to dialogue that bring to light a new potential between human beings.
The course functions as a practice space to explore and experiment with the dialogue practice. Twice a month, you meet with Thomas Steininger and Elizabeth Debold as a whole group to engage with each Essential. Twice a month you will meet in a facilitated small group to go deeper into each Essential through practicing dialogue. Occasionally, readings and other materials will be provided to enhance your experience of the dialogue process.
