About OWiD

One World in Dialogue was created in 2015 by Elizabeth Debold with her partner Thomas Steininger as part of emerge bewusstseinskultur e.V., a German nonprofit educational association. The idea behind OWiD is simple: to develop a living global network of change-makers and activists committed to deep dialogue in order to create new approaches and collaborations that support change. Dialogue holds a unique, emergent potential to take us beyond the boundaries of our selves and what we think we know. Because of this, dialogue connects human beings in fresh and deep relationship. Diversity is held in unity, and a new unity arises from diversity.

Our hope is that together we can give rise to a global field of aliveness and relationship that in itself is an activist intervention into the status quo of separation, selfishness, commodification, and suspicion. Moreover, we are aware that people on the ground who are making change need to be connected for soul support and to share innovations.

Through projects like the Global Dialogue Lab, we attempt to catalyze a space of inquiry with leading change makers to inform and enliven on-the- ground efforts globally. Through our dialogue courses, we aim to introduce change-makers to the living potential of emergence.

Steininger has spent the last twenty years developing a unique, emergent dialogue process, called emerge dialogue process. Debold has also been involved in developing this work. We want to bring the potential of dialogue where it is needed most: to bring together the precious human brings from around the world who are passionately committed to living in wholeness together with all living things on this Earth.

Meet the Founders

Elizabeth Debold

Elizabeth Debold, Ed.D. is best described as a gender futurist. She is a leading authority on gender development and author of the bestselling Mother Daughter Revolution (Addison-Wesley, 1993; Bantam, 1994). For the past four decades, she has worked on the front lines of gender and cultural evolution as activist, researcher, journalist, spiritual explorer, and transformative educator. Her lifelong pursuit of freedom, creativity, and equality between the sexes has taken her from door-to-door activism for the U.S. Equal Rights Amendment to groundbreaking research on gender development at Harvard University to cutting-edge cultural and spiritual investigation at evolve magazine.

Elizabeth has been sought out as an expert on gender and the evolution of culture by major media outlets in the U.S. and abroad and has lectured in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Europe. Her work has appeared in academic publications, popular media, and international anthologies as well as in the now-defunct quarterly magazine, EnlightenNext, where she was Senior Editor for nearly a decade. She has made multiple appearances on Oprah, Good Morning America, and NPR, and was featured in a major Lifetime documentary on girls’ development.

Committed to the creative potential of teaching with others (such as Diane Musho Hamilton, Mary Adams, Carter Phipps, Thomas Steininger, and Annette Kaiser), she has offered programs on the Evolutionary Worldview, Meditation, Evolutionary Philosophy, Women’s Development, and Evolutionary Dialogue. Elizabeth’s work explores the intersection of culture and gender identity, and she is currently working several book projects.

She has developed acclaimed women’s courses and seminars and served as Academic Director of the Master of Arts program in Conscious Evolution at The Graduate Institute. She has also taught at Harvard University and the New School for Social Research.
